Lake Keowee is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Western Tip of Upstate South Carolina.  People come here from all areas and are surprised that we have such a lake that offers mountain views, clear waters and at the same time not commercialized. If  you want commercialization Greenville, SC is only 45 minutes away, Atlanta, GA a couple of hours and Charlotte, NC a little over 2 hours away.

Keowee is an exceptional, "blue water" lake of 18,372 acres, with depths to 155 feet, that average 54 feet, and a shoreline of approximately 300 miles.  The watershed  encompasses 377 square miles in South Carolina. Lake   Keowee is extremely clean and clear due to the watershed of the Jocassee Valley and the Sumter National Forest. Fresh water streams and springs flow from the mountains of the upstate to Lake Jocassee and eventually  to Lake Keowee!

Along with Jocassee, Keowee forms the primary  headwaters of the Savannah basin and South Carolina's "Heritage Corridor".  The lake supports a large power generating  operation, serves as an increasingly important source of drinking water for municipalities including Greenville, and has become a magnet for tourism,  recreation, and many thousands of new residents.  Regional population growth rates have increased four fold since the lake was formed in the early 1970's.

The Seneca Chamber of Commerce considers it the area's most  important economic resource.  This outstanding economic and environmental resource deserves dedicated  stewardship and special   protection.  DHEC has  recommended "preservation of the lake's desirable trophic condition".

Sally and I enjoy sailing our boat "PartnerShip" in the  evenings and occasionally we will slip away on an afternoon sail if the wind is up.  We sail by the new  developments that are being built on the lake and remember when we sold such and such lot for only a mere pittance of what they are selling for now.  People ask us all the time if the prices are going to continue to appreciate?  Well if the past is any indication the answer is yes!

So what's the story?  Lake Keowee is the upstates best kept secret.  We have NEVER sold anyone a home or lot on Keowee and  had them say, "We made a  Mistake!" That makes our clients the Lake Keowee Story!

We thank you for your Interest and look forward to Helping you find your Place in the Story!
